Haha so funny. Today Zy and Rachel Yong came over. Rachel was a moron, she took super long to find her way to my house, even though I was on the phone with her! On the other hand, Zheng Yi found my house himself with simple directions. See the difference? Never trust Rachel's sense of direction please. Can trust Lam's. We watched Tokyo Drift in around 30 mins to an hour by fast forwarding it, and watched Take the Lead, which is a super nice movie with a good storyline and great moves, like whoa :D Three of us were in my room staring at the laptop with random comments flying about. Lam loves my piano. He kept going on about it at the bus stop. Oh I'll be seeing him for 8 consecutive days, counting from this thurs, FUNFAIR! :D Best friend, i like every moment when we have fun (: Bet he's at Ivan's house now.
Okay I love these two people a lot! A lot a lot a lot, and I thank God for placing them into my life because I can't imagine what it would be like without them. They've been nice& sweet! Someone helped me carry my bag, someone helped me carry my dustbin & board. Oh saw Ivy downstairs & Ivan & Issac.
On friday me kim joycelee and zy went to celebrate Rachel's birthday. Met him first at Tanah Merah, walked around Plaza Sing, got Rachel something then went to meet them. Okay he was super nice on friday. Ate at swensens! :D Was a bit weird at first but the lameness of lam made everyone alright. It was a dinner full of laughter at the drawing of lame cow! Shared earthquake, with some flavours the same. Still think Gelare nicer! Went to Le Meridien to play pool, we were the only girls there, so it looked weird having one guy and 4 girls. He taught us. At first played and felt loser, then got the hang of it. But still no good la. Was an enjoyable day! Went home with Rachel.
Byebyee, gotta go pack for camp and you'll not see me for 4 days! Haha but most of my close friends are going to be there so :D
The book Fear Of the Lord is nice! :D YAY!

Helloooooo, I'm finally back from Medan! I've missed you all. Well, it was a good 6 days there, productive, fun, and everything I asked for came to past. Amen! Oh thanks to all the people who were at the airport (: One word to summarise the trip= WHOOHOOO!
Day1- 14 Nov
Cabbed to airport with Hannah, were the earliest (being on time is a virtue!) Then PJ, Joachim and Thaddeus came. They look like a family! Where Joachim is Daddy, PJ is Mommy! Okay lame. The rest came, other Megalifers came to send us off. Audrey! Crys! Chai! Got others. Took the golden picture of the year! You shall see it one day, super funny I tell you! Rachel Yong called me when I was walking to the plane. Mm, got onto SilkAir 232, sat with Amanda, aeroplane part! (: I took a video of the plane taking off. Oh by the way, the plane is like only one cabin big! Tiniest plane I've ever sat in. When it was nearing Medan, I looked at all the roofs and fields, it's amazing how Medan is a break from civilisation. Clouds are nice too. Was writing in my notebook how we have overlooked so many things in life because it's too fast paced. It's time to relax and appreciate nature, appreciate art.
Touched down at the airport in Medan where Kak-Feburary and Daniel came to fetch us. Eh we walked down the plane! Went to the apartment, ate breakfast then slept. Rooming with Cheryl and Joy! Think they make wonderful room mates, because they dont snore compared to the other girls. Oh wait Cheryl snores. I led impromptu worship, where it ws really spirit-led! Could feel God's presence. Practiced, then had lunch and dinner, then left for crusade.
I love crusades. We went there, Belawan and I was really inspired how the people danced and worshipped, they did it with so much energy and passion and of course, God's presence was there! Whoohoo! There was great joy, even though I didn't understand the lyrics, I could catch the melody, because it's all about the heart. Impressed by the amount of emotions they put into drama, must be like that for Megalife! We performed slow dance and songs for them, and Vanessa shared testimony, PJ preached. 138 salvations, amazed by the awesomeness of God, how He can move so mightily.
Went forward to pray for people, did so with Thaddeus and Ivy! And God used us to heal people, yay! At least 3 people we prayed for that day got healed. So, if God can use us, He can use you too! All you need is faith to believe. The people there are super desperate for God, they literally cry.
Day2-15 Nov
Woke up at 630am to bathe. Oh when I woke up in Medan I had this habit of shouting whoohoo. Joy and Cheryl would wake up too and say siao, then return to their pig sleep. Bathe for 20 mins, cos I'm the earliest to wake up. At first didnt know how to use heater then water super cold, kept jumping. Had worship and devotion, breakfast!
Medan has wonderful, scrumptious and mouthwatering food! Spicy noodles, fried rice, eggs, soup, tofu, hairy chicken, bla bla bla. Love the food man, I think I eat the most in my team! Supposed to be Sherwyn but apparently he can't take spicy food. Practiced more for all the items.
Crusade at Pancur Batu, where we performed again. During one of the songs the Medan people were doing, there was a blackout. But they DID NOT scream. Pro eh! Know what, they carried on dancing and singing, without microphones. Imagine what willl happen if there's a blackout in Singapore! Hmmmm. But blackouts there are common, almost every night? That's what somoeone told me. True. Again the same things like the crusade before happened, only this time we were not so blur and went there knowing what to do. 108 salvations that night, and more healing!
I prayed for this guy with some heart problem, and he got healed! I don't think I'll ever forget the look of joy on his face, his gratefulness, his smile. Abang Daniel was with me, think Thaddeus also. The satisfaction you get when you know you have been used to heal is a very WOW feeling. Prayed for some other people too, all got healed! Oh the people there are petite, when I stood in front, think all the girls are shorter than me. Oh you know when we are praying in authority can feel the power flowing through my hands! Whee! And when we prayed toogether with the people there, I could sense the unity in the spirit.
I know that even though MMT'06 is young, we made a difference, we impacted GKII there. Not forgetting, when we gave, we received much more. The enthusiasm of the people there is contagious. Their friendliness. Think I shook hands with at least 70-100 people. Weird that when we go there we are treated like some VIPs when I think they are really cool, way cooler than us, and we have so much to learn from them.
I shall talk about bus rides now! Bus rides are a think to pray, think, sleep, talk, listen to Joachim's stories, listen to Sherwyn's lameness, make a lot of noise, sing songs, disturb PJ and Joachim about their love lives (3 more years!) And every time before we set off, we will pray for journey mercies! L O V E song super funny, we recorded lame videos. The roads in Medan are freaky, one time the bus tilted to the side. We were like whoa. There was also free water baptism service there, due to the leaking aircon. Still remember Sherwyn trying to catch the falling water, funny i tell you.
That night when we were rounding off debrief with Hannah's prayer there was a blackout and all the girls except me and PJ started screaming. Cheryl screams the loudest! Scream machine ah that one. Tsk. It was so pitch black, I couldn't even see my fingers. Went to my room, groped around for 3-5 minutes until I found my phone, and there was light finally. Went to sleep without aircon, was perspiring like crazy. Every night we usually slept around 2, sometimes a bit later.
Day 3-16Nov
Did the usual stuff, woke up, ate, practiced, worship and devotion. Crusade this night was cool! On the way there, it was really a long ride and was bumpy. Joachim entertained us with his army stories. Prayed like crazy and sang songs in the bus for the last around 20 mins, really built up spirit man. Faith. I knew it was going to be hard ground, but somehow God challenged me to ask for more, for 100. I believed. Did fast dance, slow dance and running girl mime. With my brilliant friend/translator, Kak-Yo, I introduced the mime. Love her! As trucks of people came in slowly, I got more encouraged. I loved every single one of the villagers there, not with my own love, but the love that comes from God. It's indescribable. I want to have that type of love for everyone in Singapore & all around the world.
When they were showing the Passion Of Christ for the third day in a row, we did not watch it, but prayed instead.
Altar call, when I saw so many people, there was something in my heart that was just so glad again, when I realised that my God is someone who really makes things possible. If only we believe! Where has the faith gone in Megalife, the faith is dwindling, we have to increase it! The villagers were crying, with so much desperation. One thing I like is that they are simple, they don't question, just believe. Prayed for mute and deaf man, a lady with heart problem, another one with emotional problems and others. Sometimes I dont even know what they are suffering from, but I just pray, and they still get healed. Amazing. 103 salvations (somewhere around there). Whoohooo!
Gave out sweets and balloons to little kids, felt like Santa Claus, Hey, giving feels good. So does serving! The kids there are cute. All kids are cute anyway, so long as they don't make too much noise. Oh after that someone said to give the sweets to the teenage boys standing at the side. So I, being a very nice person, went. Those people smiled at me like don't know what. One of them wanted to shake my hand and I was so innocent la! Then turn around whole MMT laughing at me. PJ pro somemore say I flirting! Then don't know who said they are my fan club. Eh see my team too much eh!
Anyway Joachim shall no longer be paired up with Mimi, this time it is Ah Fong! Joachim loves Ah Fong! She's super pretty. He is lousy, he doesn't know how to chase girls, tsk. Didn't even want to send her off to the gate at our apartment on Sunday.
Day4- 17 Nov
Went shopping in the morning, cut my hair. Poor cheryl lost her wallet. Had Texas Chicken for dinner, then went for cell leaders meeting at night. Whoops, almost fell asleep due to my tiredness. Sweets woke me up. Nothing much that day la. Oh learnt that character is more important than anointing, so going to build up my character! Yeah!
Joy and I go on mosquito killing sprees. We killed at least 30 on our trip with Baygon. Mosquitoes bit me more than 27 times, I can even play connect the dots on my right arm.
Day 5- 18 Nov
Went for visitations with the Chinese Church! Was fruitful, where we just walked through the lanes. Their drainage all those, dustbin, tin roofs. Fields. Makes me realise how lucky we are. The house I visited was nice, they were buddhist and they accepted! Whee. They were hospitable and made us tea (: The guy in the house was quite sickly and frail, but he walked. In the bus I was thinking about things. Then I thought of how much I missed talking to ZY, because this type of thoughts I can share with him. Because his brain is complex enough to understand. I also thought of how much I missed the other important people in my life. Day 5 only leh!
Went to hospital to see a 9 year old girl in the ICU because she had a hole in her heart. Went for lunch at some chinese place, had hokkien mee. I realised I amd Cheryl and Hannah's rubbish bin! Whatever food they can't finish, I eat for them sometimes. Hmm. Eating is fun! Very fun, especiall in Medan. I realise I like real food more than packet food, heehee. At lor mai kai which is equivalent to eating myself. Chinese pastor amused us at the bakery with his funny mian bao song. I shall not elaborate! Took pictures outside the bakery, to the annoyance of the people inside.
Youth service! Was cool. We played games with the youths and they are really enthusiastic and supportive. Passed around basketballs in a diff version of pass the parcel. Super funny, we taught them how to the chicken dance & 95percent of the congregation followed! They are so on!They sang Lord you are good! Service always ends with this song "Bapa T'rima Kasih"
One thing I learned in Medan, is that if you do not know how to communicate, just smile. My motto is HEEHEE your way through situations where you can't understand what anyone is talking about. I survived 6 days with that, even talking to Daniel was just hand movements, Thank you, Hello, welcome, Byebye and smiling. A lot of smiling. Think my jaw is pain now from too much smiling and laughing in Medan. Bus ride back was as usual, suanning time! :D
Day 6- 19 Nov
At midnight we celebrate dearest PJ's birthday, the Chinese church got her a cake and we cornered her in her room then gave her a surprise! (: Jersey and lighted cake. Then Thaddeus pro, take the musical candle and happily jabbed it into the cake. Someone was like "Your birthday is it" Lame! Then he lit the candle wrongly, then we had to blow it and Cheryl lit it. Think that candle is cool. But the music got annoying after awhile. After eating cake, we went to sleep. Think she received 3 cakes in Medan. Come back Singapore sure have a lot more.
Did my usual whoohoo thing waking up, went for Indonesian service early in the morning. Song, Fast dance, Slow dance & I shared testimony. With Ps.Vicky to translate for me, yay! The Munthe family is talented, they all can play instruments. By that service I almost memorised the lyrics to all the songs. Think the O....O...O.... Nanana one very nice. Tiada S'perti Engkau also. Wah when I went to pray for someone to get healed, she got set free, but my ear spoilt. Because the speaker was right behind me and the sound was blasting, above my threshold of hearing, so it literally became painful. As if a drill were going into my ear. Now still a bit pain.
Chinese congregation service (they did it in Bahasa). Performed. Don't know how Joachim ended up next to me again, but he kept me awake with his lameness. Eh he called me names leh! What longkang and canal. Aiyooo. Ate dinner with the rest, shared table with Amanda, Sherwyn, Thaddeus, Kak-Yo, Daniel&wife(she's 5 months pregnant, they want a girl) and another Kak. Was good, talked a lot to Kak-Yo. GKII has 70-80 services on a Sunday in different places! Their church is huge. Found out stuff about Medan too, how it has around 3 million people but yet is much bigger in land area than Singapore. Kak-Yo and I have an agreement! :D But it's secret! Wheehee.
Returned back to apartment, and the rest fell asleep once they flopped down onto their beds. Me? LOOKING FOR TOILET! Both the toilets were clogged by people with pangsai. Gross la. Had to go to another house to pee. The toilet no flush, then had to scoop water. But not too bad. When i got out of the toilet, one guy living in the house looked at me like I was some funny intruder, so I HEEEHEEED my way out. Kak-Yo! :D
English service at night, I malu-ed myself by introducing the wrong mime. Don't know what my brain was thinking. Joachim preached a fun-filled yet meaningful word on attractive hearts. Just the crabs in water thing very lame. In the bus I was laughing at Thaddeus who still didn't get it. Actually I think PJ and Joachim preach really differently in Medan than in Singapore! And I prefer what's happening in Medan. It is impactful, preached with power, conviction. Made few friends, got their contact numbers.
Got back to apartment and played card games and T or D, and COT! (: Fun! But everything's going to be kept inside (: Joy Cheryl and I went back to room and talked until there was a blackout around 2am, then we decided to sleep, in the pitch blackness without aircon.
Day 7- 20 Nov
Had the really important debrief for the whole mission trip to seal everything up then we went to order Kueh Lapis. And go to Plaza Medan Fair for shopping. Ate at pizza hut for lunch first. Daniel kept using his phone to video us during lunch. Love him too! Think he'll make a wonderful dad. Baby coming in 4 mths! :D Cheryl was my shopping part! (: I stupid;y went to cut my hair again and now i'ts short and looks weird. But still can tie. Didn't buy much though, only some stuff because we had very little time or we just looked in the wrong places. The guys bought a lot of stuff. Shocking how they can shop more than girls. The Christian bookstore there has tons of interesting things!
Farewell at airport, felt so quick, so fast that the trip was over. Was super sad yet happy at the airport. It meant that I wouldn't be seeing Kak-Yo, Daniel and Kak-Feburary for a long time..But I was happy cos going home to get my good rest! And see nice people at the airport in Singapore that I missed.
Plane flight got a lot of turbulence, but Medan at night is pretty (: Little tiny lights make it look like fairy town. I love Medan. I love the people. I remember one day I saw protesters (protesting against Bush) they held up the traffic. {and by the way i shall blog about terrorists one day! shall not digress here} First time I saw protesters eh! Everyone else in the bus except me Kak-Yo Daniel and Joachim were sleeping. Daniel prayed for the protesters, behind the driving wheel. Sat in plane with Amanda again. The other girls had pillow fight and made a lot of noise in the other aisle. Good news, it's videotaped and you can watch it sometime soon in service (MMT'06 hopes). Golden video of the trip. We still have the golden picture, hooray.
Touched down, a few megalifers came to fetch us. Haha got Aud, Esther, ZY, Simin, Yolanda, Cheryl Toh, some other guys. A&E suan me like anything, pfft. How mean. Lam was plain retarded! Super slow, Aud call him a girl he take 10 seconds to respond. Anw, thank you all for coming (: Nice people! Took MRT to Tanah Merah since the three of them were chasing me to go home and rest early. Then cab! Whee.
Think I took very long, at least 2 hours to write this. Sorry if it's too long, but this blog entry shall serve as my memory of the trip and I'll add more stuff when I remember. I love my awesome God. My wonderful team, MMT'06. I don't want it to end here. I want more! :D I want to continue believing, continue asking!
The darker it is, the brighter you must shine. Never forget this trip, JANEL!
Kak-Yo, Janel and Daniel! :D (Stupid Lam says i look like a boy in this, not my fault that they cant see my ponytail in the pic la! Haha)
Camp's next, I'm ready to go! Sounds fun! S&T same group again, that means I would have spent at least 10 days living with them. Don't know whether can survive. Think can la. I love them :D

I just keep thinking about this. How Singapore's education system has spoilt our brains. The government has not trained teachers right. We are called to do a task and accept it without questioning the intentions behind it. For example, if the teachers give an assignment, we have come to the point where we just accpet it and attempt to complete it without finding out what the real purpose behind doing it is.
I used to question teacher's answers, but in secondary school they always argue that they are right and leave us little space for debate. So i sort of gave up at the end of sec 2, when I got tired of asking and not getting proper answers. The teachers were ignoring my questions instead of explaining properly. So all these killed my inquistive spirit. Bammmm, think it would have been lost. Imagine, all my years of inquistiveness being killed by the education system? Don't think that's good.
When I went to VJ for registration, my brain got jolted, realised how dumb and robotic i had become. Never mind, next year I can finally express myself freely. Hooray! (:
The purpose of writing this is to tell you that you have to keep on asking questions! Becuase they do make you smarter. Don't only question academically, but question life and why.
Why and how come are nice words. Very nice words.
Think some people have lost the drive to mug, to study, to question. Come on, go find it!
I just realised I've got so many things to say to so many peopl but no time. Ah well. December!

Met Hannah and Rachel today to go shopping! Went Bugis first, bought some BUM shirt. Super cheap! 9 bucks. Then so nice somemore. Purple. Then went to Hannah's dad office cos she needed to get money. Queensway! Oh on the bus ride there the two morons were talking, i mean gushing about goong. Aiyo. Siao ding dong. Went to Ikea and wasted a lot of time there. Bought a dustbin for my room, noticeboard & pins, ice cube tray (: Oh those two too much ah. Bully me. Pulled off my slippers and ran away. Thought they were going to come back but they didn't. So I had to run in Ikea like a footwearless fool, how embarassing.
Queensway! Walked around A LOT. Got a Hollister tee, some scooter monkey tee. Think my fashion sense is improving. Buying more girly shirts. My sister laughed at me la. And Adidas duffel bag! At a good deal somemore. 39 bucks, and it's a new arrival. Bought earrings but lost them. So sad. They were so nice. Hannah and Rachel left early so I was walking around alone. Collected _____. You will find out what it is on saturday (: Looks good.
Crazy, today so many people added me on msn, like 6 at one shot, how interesting! Haha.
And to end my post off, I shall declare my love for Mad Medan Mission Team, '06 (: Flying offf on tuesday, anyone want to see me off?

Whoohooo! Feel inspired. Clarity of minds will help you achieve your goals. How true. Shall start planning for my futureeeeeeee. To achieve greater things, sacrifices must be made.
And opportunity comes like a thief, it comes silently, but when it leaves, you lose a lot. Oppportunities are chances to achieve your dreams. Grab them while they are there. Learnt these from Marcus who I've just talked to today after a long long time.

Okay nevermind that was random. Service was happening & awesomeeee. Parachute Band, Cornerstone. New visions, yes and amen. I shall continue my life of no compromises. The stand.
