On a social networking site, I received this:
My Dear,
I love you with the deepest passion and I wish we could see each other every day but I know that you're so far away. It hurts me to know how I sometimes can be a little selfish when it comes to you, but, Girl, I'm in the deepest love for you!
Did you know that I think about you at night wishing you were here? I love you, my beautiful Purple Queen. I want you to know how I feel. We really need to talk but then again I don't know. My heart bleeds blood for you and I can't see. My stomach hurts and my head is throbbing but I want you to know more than anything that I miss you.Academically, diploma in computer science, bachelor degree in psychology & philosophy, bachelor degree in clinical psychiatry and finally bachelor of medicine in surgical. my hobbies/interests are listening to music, watching movies, volunteering, museums theatre, traveling KEGS, historical novels, foreign cultures, researching & poetry. so you can contact me via mails juliusgavin05@yahoo.com or matovujovenna@yahoo.com or bathshebajovenna@myway.com or jovenna.mavin@lexur.zzn.com.
YOURS IN REAL LOVE JOVENNA JULIUS.
Ah please, spare me your sappy love stories. The grammar here is so atrocious, it makes my heart bleed. (And besides, "love" in that sense doesn't count). This guy makes himself out to be a terminally ill patient of love. This is the best pick-up line ever: I love you, my beautiful Purple Queen.
That was funny.

Passed Chinese again :) From now until the 5th of Nov, I'm going to live, breathe, eat, sleep Chinese. And get it over and done with. I can see the piles of homework just coming...slowly inching their way to my doorstep, desk, schoolbag... oh wait. Slowly? More likely, tout de suite.

Me, now
Me, now.
I love where I'm at now. I love life.
Though some things might not have panned out the way I might have wanted them to, life is good. I've got the most amazing friends ever, people who are sweet, caring and fun. I like the feeling of being free. I truly am free.
And life spins, whirls, dances, twirls, leaps around me.
I like living on the edge - despite my bad fall. It sure beats shopping and slouching around at home (which is an outright bore). This is me. And I'm comfortable with, me.
I wouldn't change or trade my life with anyone else in the world. Because I don't live for comfort, I don't place my hopes on the material. At the moment, there's no need to rely on any significant other. I'm content with who I am, and who I want to be. I don't need try to be anyone, or try to live up to crazy expectations.
In math, anything divided by infinity is zero. So my life, divided by eternity is zero. How cool is that!?

Tumble and Fall
To those who do not yet know.
Was on my way to Chek Jawa at Pulau Ubin, rented a $2 bicycle. All was going well, till I took a rough tumble and fall, crashing into the bushes because my bicycle was accelerating too quickly downslope. I underestimated the slope, assuming that it would peter out by a certain amount of time, and didn't really utilise my brakes (anyway they were making a really annoying creaky sound)
I saw it coming too late, saw the bush in front of me, exclaimed loudly, i think something like "oh crap", and crashed, with my whole body flat on the floor, mud on my shoes, shorts and front of my shirt, on the handlebars on my bike and covering my legs, face and arms. I knew that my face had been affected too, because I felt it scraping against something.
Then I saw the blood, trickling from my knees (bleeding into my Asics shoes which are now washed already). The worst thing was, when my friend and I were picking up my bike, it started raining, then a stupid van came from behind and we had to remove the bike from the pathway to allow it to cross.
We rested at the hut, washed the wounds, and after a really long while, headed out to Chek Jawa anyway. I mean, the fall couldn't have been worth nothing right?
Handed our bikes over to this nice couple who helped us return it, and walked to Ubin. Surprisingly, the wounds hurt more now (as in today), than then (as in at Ubin). It hurts even to bathe. Bah.
P.S. Blood is good. Falling down and bleeding means you're active, instead of rotting at home and becoming a lump of fat. I gave my mum the shock of her life when I went home with all the mud and cuts, and my 10cm long bruise.
And thanks for the concern everyone :)

In a day
Today I learnt zilch at work and Sulin and I got so bored that we played the word game, and believe it or not, chopsticks. The guy we were assigned to practically treated us like we were invisible!! :( I learnt a lot more from the book placed on the desk about short-selling and day selling, money markets and futures, than at the desk itself. Nothing bores me more than NOT learning!
I decided to make a detour to marina square, past the racetracks again.. ended up camping outside the pit building. On my way there, I helped a Japanese tourist to navigate his way towards the Merlion park (like why in the world do people want to go there anyway?) I met a father and son pair from Denmark, a group of crazy F1 fans from Indonesia, a couple of Chinese, a Danish (I think) called Alik and Tony from England. They're all really nice people and I enjoyed my time with them. Going to add them on Facebook.
So. Today's sightings were cool. Fernando Alonso in a pinkish shirt, Kimi raikonnen, Nelson Piquet in a Renault tee, ross Brawn, Pat Symonds (Renault director of engineering). I got signatures from famous people whom I do not know. Peter Windsor and some guy, whose handwriting I can't decipher.

More recent happy times
The pathway in between Joy and Fun.
No actually, this is near the Esplanade. Yes, I'm on the F1 racing track, which will roar to life in 4 days. Now, onto my recent happy times :)
Monday
School, then catapulted out of there in the quickest time possible. Met my Wind Friend after that, headed down to Vivocity to eat lunch at Superdog and start on our Southern ridges adventure. Started at Marang Trail, and went all the way to the end of Canopy Walk, which was somewhere at Pasir Panjang I think. Photos.
Great company I had, thank you :)
Headed down to City Hall again to indulge in my F1 dreams.. Met an Italian tourist, a Cisco security guard and other friendly people. Walked a whole lot, found my way around barriers which allowed me access to roads I wouldn't have walked through on a normal day. Started from City Hall, past Supreme Court and the Victoria Concert Theatre, past Anderson Bridge, One Fullerton and the Singapore river. Headed past the Esplanade, Singapore Flyer (and the Pit buildings were there woooh), then back to City Hall via Citylink. So, if you're planning to go, that's the best suggested direction! Takes about 2 hours, depending how long you spend taking photos.
Tuesday
Met up with Dustbin after school, headed down to Bugis, had a little urban escapade to Haji Lane, then we visited the City Hall area. (Yes, again.) Today, I don't think they made much progress. The security guard I met said some cabling's gone a bit off. Hopefully, things will be better. I missed photo ops with Utt, Ben, and the renault engineers ahhhh, so dumb of me. Especially the renault engineers one.
Levis Models having a shoot. I saw MTV VJ Utt there too, next to them. And he smiled at us. Big deal.

Fab Weekend
I had an absolutely charming weekend :)
Friday
Headed to the sandy (and not very clear) beaches of Sentosa, with 16 others from the class. Pretty okay, just that despite spending an obstensibly extensive period lazing around at the beach in basking under the scorching rays of the sun, I did not become any tanner at all. Man, that was such a bimbotic statement. I brought my H&M shades from Dubai along, and Adriel kept wearing them. (Quoting him, :"Aren't I fabulous?") We dined at Trapizza, this lame pizza restaurant owned by rasa Sentosa. Later we headed to Vivo, where I saw certain people, then the classmates went home, while I went to Bugis to have a hair cut. It feels very liberating to see my thick jet black hair be snipped away :) Prayer meeting later in the evening till night was cool!
Saturday
Lcell, Service with Bob Sorge and discipleship with Dory and Eunice. Bob Sorge blows my mind. His passion seems almost infinite and his love for God and His people is so real. I've been inspired in many more ways than one by this guy. Dory and I went up to say thank you to him after that. I bought a book - Unrelenting Prayer and I'm so eager to devour it within this week! After service, dinner at Superdog, where the Chilli Cheese Fries are exceptionally delicious. Was a good time, and I'm encouraged that they are growing. Later on, we bought a crab at Fairprice and played with it.
Sunday
Service in the morning (I went for the second one). Power of The Blood :) I bought another book today, Exploring Worship. Service was good, and after that, I went out with my awesome buddy to go see the Singapore Biennale 2008. The both of us spent a really long time and walked a whole long distance before we found the City Hall venue, because of the annoying and pesky barricades put up due to the upcoming F1 races. It was nice though, walking through the whole area, seeing all the crazy last minute preparations being done, and imagining the F1 cars that would be speeding through the exact same roads we were walking next to. With the unmistakable roar of the engines.... Okay, so much for my F1 dreams. Because I'm not rich kid, I won't get to watch it. Back to the Biennale. We found City Hall after trudging under the burning sun for about more than an hour I think. It's all the F1 barricades' fault, and the lack of proper signage.
My cool buddy and I had fun at the Biennale. My favourite artwork was the Map of Singapore where visitors could paste stickers at various locations. I left my mark on the map utilising more than twenty stickers. If you're there, look out for the "WhereIsMasSelamat??" at the entrance to the room. We stuck it there using 19 stickers, one for each character. You can't miss it. Unless, of course, some mean dope goes and removes it. We then sat at the door and watched people's reactions to it. Many laughed said it out loud, which was pretty cool. I saw about 5 people taking photographs of that thing? I did a few other things like locating riverlife Church and pasting an I love MegaLife sticker there, next to some sticker that Jolynn and Jenson left two days back. I pasted some stickers at VJ, at my house, and at Bedok Gym. Somewhere near the entrance I drew a cute star and a Singapore Flag, that said Welcome to Singapore. A cross with, "My Hope Singapore" and a response to someone's "I love bubblegum" : Too bad, it's banned >:( Participative art at its best.
We also went to different exhibits, like the Pop Art one which was uberly cool. Some stop-motion video thing, and a "Fire room", a swimming Wittgenstein's book made of plastic, whoa awesome. There was so much art that jumped out at me, and I was going, Postmodern: Process, Play, Trace, Antiform, Signifier, Participative etc. The 5 bucks I paid for admission is well worth it. Though I strongly suggest you cut through St. Andrew's Cathedral if you wanna get there, it's quite difficult to bypass barriers correctly. Getting to the venue is real tough.
I LOVE art! :D
South Beach Development, we're heading towards you soon!

I Am Free
The slogfest has drawn to a close (almost).
EXAMS ARE OVER!!!
*screams and does cartwheels round the room*
Caught Mamma Mia at Tampines Mall with Leer. The fact that my r key is jammed makes me not want to blog much.
But if anyone wants to go out with me, I'm quite free, though I'm on job attachment next week. (At some financial company in the CBD).
Post-exam plans
01 Get fit : This means running, daily push ups, sit ups and weekly gym with BMN. (I feel extremely unfit and fat after not exercising for about two months.)
02 Go to artsy things: This means going to the Arts Biennale and/or the Timbre Music Fest. (If anyone's keen, let me know)
03 Indulge myself in good, intelligent reads: This means more books. Secular as well as Christian books.
04 Download sermons: This means solid stuff like Generation Church's Judah Smith, North Point Community Church's Andy Stanley and others.
05 Sports: Basketball, Soccer and the likes. I wanna try watersports.
06 Hang out with close friends: Outings, Movies, House-visits, Dinners and Lunches :)

Take It All
It's that time of the year: the two-week slogfest begins.
As the exams draw near by the hour, the pressure's mounting. I feel so insufficiently prepared, so nervous, so stressed. Yet sometimes, I'm so hyperactive, I can't sit down to study.
I hate this feeling.
But one thing is constant. I've gotta know and trust that everything's going to be okay. It will be okay. 14 more days, and no more exams until February. (Besides Higher Chinese O-Levels).
Gotta concentrate.
I can do it
I can do it
I can do it
I really can do it.
Jesus, take it all.

Faith That Fights
Got this off a guy in Generation Church's blog.
There is a right way and a wrong way to fight…
Listen to me, every single day when we wake up in the morning, its like the bell goes off in the boxing ring and there’s a fight that goes on. For every hour and every moment that you are awake, each and every day there is a fight that happens this morning and it ends at the end of tonight when you go to bed and put your head on the pillow that its determined who won the fight for that day. When you wake up in the morning, you have to make a decision: is today going to be a day of faith? Or is it going to be a day of unbelieve? Is today going to be a day of anger? Or is today going to be a day of love? Is today going to be a day of peace? Or will it be a day of anxiety? Is it going to be a day of purity, or impurity? Is it going to be a day of joy, or a day of depression? You may have got a depressed day today and maybe feel like you got knock out today. Well, listen to me - tonight, stand up on your feet, a righteous man will get knock down 7 times, but he will rise again, and say, “No, I’m not letting you take me out anymore! I choose joy in Jesus name!”
Everyday is a fight - and we need to be a fight generation!
There’s two kinds of Christians out there - there are those that will complain when situation arises or those that would contend when situation arise!
Faith without works is dead!
You may not like every different way we do the service or the worship is not long enough or its too long… Shut your mouth, quit being a complainer, be a contender with us ‘cuz there’s a fight going on! And you and I are not the enemy, the devil’s the enemy! If the devil has got us fighting each other, then he’s got us!
We need to speak blessing and not cursing!
The depth-less people are people that tend to live in the past and sit idle in the present. We get all excited about what happened in that season. I don’t want to be concern with the past, I live right now and I want to see God move right now.
It’s the testing that determines if its true or temporary.
- by Pastor Elijah Waters on February 7th - Fight Right
I've been listening to Generation Church sermons, particularly by Judah Smith, because I love how these pastors know their Word and teach it uncompromisingly. I love solid preaching, with use of relevant examples. For this week, I've learnt so much about Faith, about Faith That Fights, and that the fight we are in is already fixed - so we've gotta fight the good fight :)

Yay
Sometimes, all you need to do is to give people a chance. Race, religion, age, location don't matter. Who knows, something beautiful might just come out of it :)
I'm revelling in a new community that I just discovered, where everyone seems so happy, friendly, real and exciting! And every single person I talk to, I gain so much. If only more people were like that.
New York in the States, Sheffield and Padnignton, England, Germany, France.
In the midst of exam preparation - it's a pity that Censorship laws have just been amended in the past week. That means I have to read the newspapers and reconstruct my arguments already.
